Memorial Day Weekend Part 3

Today was the parade!  We met our friends Hector and Lindsay (along with their daughter Sophia) in McGregor and enjoyed the parade.
 Tristan ready for the parade!
 Jackson ready for the parade!
It's a well known fact that you have to wave at the parade for them to throw candy!
Tristan is NOT a big fan of the firetruck sirens.

After the parade we invited the Salinas' over to the farm to show them around.
The boys had to introduce Sophia to the sheep.  She wasn't scared, in fact she thought they were pretty funny!
Everybody playing in the sandbox.

By evening time it was obvious that the boys had had too much weekend.  We took it easy tonight and went to bed at a decent time.  Overall, it was a great weekend!

Memorial Day Weekend Part 2

Sunday we went to the campsite for the first time this year.  It was REALLY hot out but you can't go to the campsite without a fire.  Joy came up from Dubuque to spend the day with Mom, and Mike joined us as well.
There was a surprise for Jackson when we arrived.  He had bought Jackson his own golf clubs!  He was trying one out in the above picture.
Mike and Jackson with the new clubs!
Hard to see here but the boys were blowing and chasing bubbles.  They are always a hit!
Daddy was a little better at blowing the bubbles.
Tristan enjoying some ice from Grandma.

We stayed at the campsite until evening.  Then we headed over to Clermont for a graduation party.  We got home quite late but it was a really great day!

Memorial Day Weekend Part 1

Saturday morning Karsten had to work so the boys, myself and my mom went down to McGregor to walk around the arts and crafts tables.  We bought a couple things, tried to go to the flea market in Marquette but couldn't find any parking.  Instead we did some errands in Prairie and ate at "Old" McDonalds as a treat for the boys.
One of our purchases was kettle corn.  We LOVE kettle corn!!

After naps and a short rainfall we got to spend a little time with our best buddies Angie and Logan!  They were in town for the weekend and managed to find an hour to play at the park.  Jackson and Logan amaze me, they do not get to see each other very often but when they do they easily fall into play.  They have a few fights here and there but overall play so well together.

We were also invited down to the park for supper and to play with Alice and Sam (along with Neil & Steff, Rob & Mary, Doug and Mom).  It was a good time.  I had to take both boys home at different points to change into dry clothes.  As I said, it had rained so the "castle" was basically just a big puddle.  I almost never stop my boys from some good puddle jumping, they love it!!

Karsten had spent the entire afternoon burning tree limbs and brush at the farm.  Sounds like it went well.  He did get to join us for supper at the park.

Pretty good first day of the long weekend!

100,000 miles

On my way home from work this evening I realized that my odometer had turned over.....to 100,000 miles!  So I, of course, took a picture.  This is the first "nice car" I've ever had a hand in buying.  Karsten and I bought it a few months after we got married.  It's been a really great car and I have no plans to get rid of it any time soon.

Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day!  I had to work night shift (!!) some of this weekend but did manage to spend some time with my mom and my boys Sunday evening.  We went over to Mom and Dad's for pizza.  TJ's pizza will always be my favorite.

Flowers were from Karsten and the boys.  Very pretty!

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!

Muffins with Mom

I got to spend this morning with Jackson in preschool!  The children's mothers were invited to "Muffins with Mom".  It was so much fun!  Mrs. Meyer had many stations that we went thru with lots of activities and fun things.  Grandma even got to come down the the classroom for a bit!
This is a picture of all the fun things we did!
The stations included fun things like making bracelets, coloring, painting, making a book mark, planting a flower (which I forgot to include in the picture) and making sugar scrub.  We also played matching games, had a bean bag toss, read books, played gooey fun (a homemade moon dough) and put puzzles together.  Then we of course ate muffins!  Mrs. Meyer also took a picture of each mom with their child.  The end of the morning was the children singing some songs (which Jackson actually participated in) and presenting us with their gifts they made.  It was so much fun!

Work begins!

I believe it is fairly common knowledge now that we have purchased my grandparents acreage.  The big question everyone asks is "when are you moving".  Frankly, we have no idea!  We do not take possession until July and we have BIG construction plans for a garage addition as well as other remodeling/gutting in the old house.  We have however begun some outside things which also is in preparation for the auction.  First on the list was getting rid of that trailer.
 Before
This trailer did have a purpose at one time.  Grandpa used it to store his woodworking projects years ago.  Unfortunately, all it became used for lately was raccoons and birds.  It needed to go.
 After
The family had a burn pile already in the old livestock area so we just hauled it up there and lit it up!
 It burned FAST!!
The trailer was project one.  Next we went up the tree line, trimming branches that stick out into Doug's field.  We pulled out a bunch of old dead limbs as well and added them to the fire.  It was tough work but sure looked a lot nicer when we were done.  We got a lot done today but there's much more to do!
