Vacation: Day 1

It's finally time for our first big family vacation!  We are heading to Estes Park Colorado right by Rocky Mountain National Park.  There is a cabin there that my family has been renting for many years.  We have been getting ready for this vacation for weeks!  We are going with Mom and Dad, Mike and meeting Joy and Barb halfway.

Mom, Dad and Mike came to our house this morning around 8:45am.  After packing a few things into Mike's car (ours was full to the brim) and discussing plans briefly we headed out around 9:00am.

After multiple rest stops including a quick lunch in Ankeny we arrived at our hotel in Kearney Nebraska.  Kearney is a little over halfway to Estes Park.  We got a bit settled and let the boys tear around the hotel rooms then decided to go to Old Chicago for supper.  It was delicious!  Mom, Dad and Mike decided to try a couple new different beers from the restaurant's huge offering.  I took sips from a couple of them and was glad I decided to go with lemonade.

After supper we headed back to the hotel and settled down for the night.  Joy and Barb got a later start today and I later learned they got to the hotel around 10:45pm.
